Kyoshi Hatanaka

Kyoshi Hatanaka, 52, of Aliso Viejo, and former finance director and chief investment officer of Soka University of America has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for embezzling more than $1.7 million of Soka funds according to U.S. Department of Justice press release 08-145 issued October 28, 2008.

 

Colin Nathanson

Colin Nathanson, 59, formerly of Coto de Caza, pleaded guilty “to six counts of mail fraud for his role in running a $28.4 million investment fraud scheme that offered fraudulent securities in a non-existent internet company” according to US Department of Justice press release 08-141 issued October 20, 2008.

 

David Gardner

David Larry Gardner, 67, of Ojai, pleaded guilty in Ventura County Superior Court to 23 felonies for trying to have three people murdered, burning down a local business, committing multiple counts of grand theft and forgery and writing letters for the purpose of extortion according to an article appearing in the Ventura County Star on September 17, 2008.
